Born in Manhattan, Dr. Lily Miller attended Vassar College for her undergraduate degree and received a combined MD/Ph.D. in biochemistry and medicine from Yale University. She held postdoctoral fellowships at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Research and MIT prior to entering the private sector. She was the 2008 recipient of an Innovation in Clinical Research Award from the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation and a Hartwell Foundation Biomedical Research Fellow.
In 2013 Dr. Miller announced that she was working on an innovative method for neurological disease management and therapeutic treatment and founded the biotechnology company Braintune. Braintune medical implants entered clinical trials in 2014 and were approved by the F.D.A. for use in the general population in 2016. Since 2016, Dr. Miller has successfully treated hundreds of patients with a variety of neurological and motor disorders with the patented Braintune technology.
Dr. Miller was the 2015 recipient of the Albert Lasker Award for Basic Medical Research.
